Hunt vs Trap

Just promoting a message around your service is not enough. Based on your platform, selecting the right approach is crucial. Learn about the biggest ones you need.

Most local businesses that do marketing but get no results fall into this...

And result in wasted time, energy, and money

Because they don't pick the right "approach"

Let's say you were tasked to hunt a deer

Now, unless you are Superman, you can't just run and latch onto it. It'd run away.

Here, you would be focusing on two approaches

You can either hunt > grab a gun, lay down somewhere, aim at the deer, fire, and take it out.

Or, you can set the trap > observe where the deers gather ocassionaly, set the trap, wait for someone to step in, and make your move.

Both of these approaches requires a set of skills, and can also cover up for your disadvantages

Why am I talking about this?

Because marketing is the same.

There are two common groups of people:

People that are CURRENTLY LOOKING for your service

People that are interested, or can be interested, but are CURRENTLY NOT LOOKING for your service

Quick Examples:

If someone looks a service on Google "plumber near me", he wants it right now. Otherwise, the leaking toilet would flood his house.

But, if someone is just scrolling on social media, and comes across an ad saying, "Get a free faucet replacement on your new sink installation" this is us giving a reason to come in contact. These group of people weren't looking for our service... yet.

I call one, "The hunter".

  • Google ads

  • Google SEO

  • Someone physically visiting your store

  • Youtube search results,

  • etc

Other, "The trap"

  • Meta ads (FB and instagram)

  • Youtube video recommendation

  • Door Knocking

  • Cold calling

  • etc

Once you understand both of these markets, it'll be easier for you to come up with ads that match where these guys are right now.

This way, you'll understand what your audience wants at that moment, what will you have to say for them to take the action you want

Example:

Google ads: Call us now (24/7 support - Quick response)

Meta ads: Learn what happens if you push the insect problem under the drawer --> Then contact

Google ads, they know they have a problem. Meta ads, they either have to be educated, or convinced why this is the right time

Understand both of these approaches. Message your marketing the right way.
