Metal Detectors

What's the reason marketing attracts the wrong people? Because we assume everyone can buy. In reality, not everyone can be a customer. Here's how to attract the right people.

When local businesses start to run ads, they run in a common problem

A bunch of leads, but you wish most never contacted

And the problem lies mostly not in the platform, but in your message

We can sell to everyone, right? WRONG!

The reason we attract wrong people is, we only focus on promoting the product as best as possible

Whereas, there is an important factor we miss

Calling out the market

We think that everyone can buy. But if you think about your last 10-25 customers, you will start noticing a set of common characteristics around

  • Background

  • Financial capability

  • Problems

  • Dreams

  • Needs

  • time they take to finally buy

And when you fill this out, you'll get a person:

Example: 35-55 years old homeowners looking to remodel their kitchen after just buying their new property

CEOs looking to manage their taxes

Now, here's how you use this info:

You call this person out in your marketing.

"Homeowners of Chicago - get a 20% off on your kitchen remodel"

This makes much more sense, and it'll attract the right people

Similar to how metal detectors only allow people with no flaws, no sus metals

This is the same

You place in this metal detector, allowing only qualified people to pass through, thus attracting qualified leads

Getting you people that means something, so you can sell.

And make more money

So, not everyone is your market. See who buys from you. Define their characteristics. Call them out, and attract the right people.

And you'll avoid the one mistake local businesses initially make.
